Completed in 2010, this competency model for Advanced Manufacturing was developed by a group of leading industry organizations gathered by the Employment and Training Administration (ETA). The pyramid model includes six levels of competencies: Personal Effectiveness, Academic, Workplace, Industry-Wide Technical, Industry-Sector Technical, and Management and Occupation-Specific.

The framework is designed to evolve along with changing skill requirements. The National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) has committed to working with industry partners to keep this tool current.
