WELD 2010 – Aluminum Welding

Course Description:
This Aluminum Welding course was developed by Roane State Community College and the Center for Advanced Automotive Technology (CAAT). This course is a preparation for aluminum welders that utilize both Gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW (TIG)) and Gas metal arc welding (GMAW (MIG)). The course offers safe and proper machine set-up, demonstrates the welding characteristics of aluminum and explains the use of special equipment associated with aluminum welding. Course prerequisites include familiarity with and demonstrated ability to weld carbon and or stainless steel with the GTAW (TIG) process. 

Course Contents: 
Course materials include a syllabus, 13 short lab activities, 10 weekly PowerPoint lectures, supplemental materials, four module PowerPoint lectures, and four module exams. 

The 12-page syllabus includes a course description, prerequisites, required materials, 
aligned industry certifications, learning outcomes, course topics and roadmap, notes to program administrators, and appendices. Appendix A includes information on materials and equipment needed and Appendix B provides a detailed weekly schedule.
